Felt and Cloth baby booties DIY

In my new found quest to be frugal I have discovered that sometimes baby shoes are pricey! So trying to pinch pennies for my new little one I searched for a economical way to dress up her little footsies in an affordable way and in a way that I can add my own touch to it. I don't have a sewing machine so by hand is what I do best with some hem tape to boot. I use the hem tape to add the straps to the booties and velcro to secure that it stays on baby girls feet. Here are the four I have made thus far and I cant wait to make more for her every expanding wardrobe that is now booming all over my room... :)

hope i can inspire other mommies to be frugal also i can make em for sale just contact me

Updates on my new bundle of joy projects

I finally found the tole at the thrift shop for a dollar to add to the up cycled lamp shade baby mobile I've made for kaylee. I've also painted the bird where her initials are and the kids each painted a bird house. I like having them participate that way they will feel included and plus it will be a wonderful memory to cherish. Here's some photos but I will take the photos of the finished products as soon as I can finish her decorations which I have still a few things in mind. Enjoy xo.

Rainy days equals soups!

When I was growing up, when it rained we always had soup. Today is one of those rainy days and I decided to try the zesty Italian soup this time instead of the typical sopa de fideos that us Puerto Ricans make.

I found a recipe that I added my own little twist to it. Enjoy

Italian sausage
A box of Swanson chicken broth
1 can of black beans drained
1 can of pinto beans drained
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 spoon of minced garlic
1 spoon of Italian seasoning
1 pinch of paprika
2 red potatoes chopped
1 1/2 cup of elbow macaroni

Brown the sausage in a skillet while that browns put all the other ingredients into the crockpot.
I started it off on high. Then take the sausage and put it in the crockpot once it's browned let it all cook together for about 6/8 hours.

Put the cooked elbow macaroni in last into the crockpot because you don't want it to get mushy. Then serve with some dinner rolls. Enjoy

Savory Saturday

This Saturday I had prepared sweet Hawaiian chicken. I was extremely nervous making this because I had never made it and I was worried the kids wouldn't like it but I was wrong! They all loved it and ate every little last piece of it. Here's the recipe and enjoy!

Chicken breast cut into cubes
1 cup of pineapple juice (if you'd like u can throw in some pineapple chunks I did)
1/3 cup of soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
Cook in the crock pot low for 6-8 hours

I recommend to always put your stuff to cook as soon as you wake up. Do your chores and let the smells engulf your home which was amazing.

Here Re the photos and I hope you try it because I'm going to do it again ASAP. Xo

Savory Saturday

Meatloaf is a big hit in my home. Take ground beef or turkey whichever you prefer place in a bowl and season to your liking. I love putting parsley and a packet or the meatloaf mix seasoning with a hint of adobo and sazon. Beat one egg and mix well. I also add some Italian bread crumbs into the mix batch. Then I make it look like a loaf. Do not over cook it because this cooks in 30 mins. I sprinkle a little bit of bread crumbs on top with some ketchup. Preheat the oven at 350 and cook for 30/45 mins. Here's my finishing results. Enjoy

Scratch of bust! - NO GMO

I'm not perfect in keeping unhealthy things from my children's reach but I am going to make everything from scratch. I have stopped buying kraft for months and now reading the list of the growing products that contain GMO worries me to bits. My oldest son has autism and I really feel that the rise in autism is due to all the GMO products. GMO products became more and more produced since 1994. I am an 80's baby and the fact that I see how different kids are today from the kids when I was their age is very scary. I have eliminated fried foods all together. I do not use corn oil also. I feel like every small step I make for my children's well being will be beneficial in the long run for them. I wish every mother will really look into what they are feeding their lil' ones and really realize the impact it can have in their lives because as the food production changes our children's behavior, growth, and even more are affected. The US has allowed us to be poisoned yet in places like Japan don't allow this nonsense. This is really bonkers. I for one challenge all mothers to really start slowly but surely eliminating these GMO filled products from their kitchens. Take the extra time to make your families a meal healthy for their bodies and minds that will also uplift their souls. Help them participate also in the baking and cooking process. I love that my two youngest love being in the kitchen with me. Here are a list of sites I recommend you to read please! Look at the list, if you have these products and don't wish for them to go to waste then use em but do not repurchase these products. I'm hoping that by doing this for my family it will help my children be healthier adults. I do not want them to suffer as I am with all my intestinal problems and Fibromyalgia. Scratch or bust! xo

Sidewalk chalk homemade recipe

Sidewalk chalk can be expensive especially if you have multiple kids. I decided I wanted and needed to cut expenses so I refuse to buy anymore when I can make my own. All it took was 1/2 cup corn starch and 1/2 cup of water and mixed it well. Then I just added two drops of food coloring. I have a stick mold for ice that I never use so this will be my mold for my chalk from now on. It literally took less than five minutes to mix etc. I still don't know how long it will take to harden cuz I just made it. Let me know if you decided to create your own sidewalk chalk as well. Happy Fourth of July everyone.
